searching images using images

Search images by comparing the file or image link!! Have you ever thought that you can search pictures or images on internet by uploading the image file or giving the url of the picture? all that most of us know is searching in Google or other search engine by typing the words or keywords but many don't know there exist a "Image Search Engine" called TinEye which search the image on the net by taking image as input from the computer or by searching and comparing image using URL in photo bucket, Picasa etc see the below pic, i searched desktop screen shot of the computer when i uploaded the file and in TinEye the results was amazing i did not expect such a close results

Images uploaded or requested using are not added to the search index, there is a cool plugin for Firefox and IE (internet explorer) which allows user to search image by simply right clicking on the image...

According to TinEye below are the some of the uses that can help bloggers and Webadmins and common users:-

* Find out where an image came from, or get more information about it
* Research or track the appearance of an image online
* Find higher resolution versions of an image
* Locate web pages that make use of an image you have created
* Discover modified or edited versions of an image

I recently played with TinEye believe it has awesome image recognition rate i downloaded a image from the net renamed it opened it in the paint edited it very much and cut the portion of the image and re sized it with pixresizer and believe me the image was modified almost 50% but when i uploaded the file and searched on the TinEye i was astonished to see the result contained the link of the original image i downloaded and several other links which had same image.

TinEye accepts most of the image formats and images above 100pixels in dimension below 100 pixels are not accepted and 1MB is the limit on the file size which can be uploaded and TinEye suggests not to upload watermarked images as the TinEye search watermark and not image itself.

If you register and login in TinEye there is a real advantage as all your searched result link will be permanently saved so that you can have it as the reference in future and whats more if you do not find the image today for whatever reason don't worry comeback in few more days the TinEye is crawling the images on the web and adding it to the index who knows you might find it tomorrow
