Is Cuil a competitor for Google and Yahoo? Cuil pronounced as "Cool" is a search engine developed by ex-employees of google claims to deliver better results than any other major search engine and by accurately showing relevant web pages and it is a web 2.0 application i am confused why they released Cuil directly prior to releasing a beta version without much of testing as we can see the results are not good and results are mixed up :o ?
though the user interface is pretty much different from other search engines the look and feel is some what average and it has also suggestion option which auto completes the frequently used words and phrases
coming to search result it is no where good compared to google,yahoo,ask and live though i think live is one of the least performing search engine in the world it is appreciable it is some what equal to rendering search results compare to live at this very early stage and search result is displayed in form of columns as compared other search engines which shows as a list.
and compared to other search engines the new features that are unique in cuil is implementation of tabbed results and search category as shown in above picture.
I think the cuil has to improve a lot to be able to compete against giants such as google and yahoo and it is not a over night job may be cuil takes at least a year to become fully fledged web application to become a threat for google and yahoo.. i tested cuil by using variety of combination of phrases key words but may times the cuil failed when google and yahoo were showing the appropriate result...

i just compared the three search engine traffic in Alexa the results clearly shows cuil is not popular as of now and may takes long time
