Lost Street Games of Indian Summer have you played it?

Lost Childhood Games of India that is sweet to remember :)..... days were gone when the season of summer was filled with kids playing all sorts of outdoor games on the indian streets.... when we were kids we used to play a whole lot of games from cricket to marbles on the street as the days passed by these games has made to the history shelves and the day may come when these games may be forgotten with the time as these games are in the edge of extinction....

Summer was the time when we used to play games such as cricket as all of you know this is the only games youngsters plays now a days, lagori a game where round stone tiles were placed one top of the another one team has to hit the formation while another team has to re-lay the formation before the opposite team members hit him with the ball if he is able to re-lay without getting hit by the ball then that team wins the point

Bachha/marble stone a game played with tiny flat round stone the game is was played with placing a matches cover/labels/and empty ciggrate packs in the long distance and team members has to fling the stones from the far if the stone moves these labels away from the round circle he owns these matchbox/labels/emptyciggrates box label more the number of matches paper he is having famous he is...

chinni dandal/GULLI-DHANDA was game played with small stick placed in circle and beating the small stick with the long stick by rising it from the ground in first short and hitting it like a cricket ball in the second hit...



Marbles which was so popular and played by almost at that time with the pocket full of colorful marbles where all the players decide the point or circle then where all the members try to inch their marbles inside the pool or round circle there are many versions of marble games played




A spinning top was my favourite game we played this game almost all the time of the year there were various version of the games played... one popular version was all the players spin the top at a time and one who lift his top at the last with is thread is the loser and has to place his top in the circle and rest of the members is given three chances and who breaks the top in the circle with is pointed top nail is the winner it is also called "Guna"


Tyre game we collected old tyres from bike and car and we used to roll it in with wooden stick in the streets one who reaches the end of the street first was the winner and other games were hide and seek and indoor games like carom chess many more to name a few...



in the monsoon and winter we used to catch the dragonfly and butterfly with the help of parthenium weeds and used to tie its tail with the string without hurting it and we use to enjoy seeing them fly with long threads we tied....

These modern day kids are seldom outdoors.... they hardly play any outdoor games... running long distances and playing in mud and water make them sick very soon these kids are so addicted to computers and internet they hardly step out of their home!!! god help our new generation kids....
