Cloth penetrating camera soon may be the reality! A CCTV camera that can “see” explosives, drugs and weapons hidden under clothing has been invented.
The ThruVision T5000 can spot items underneath clothing at a range of up to 25 meters (80 feet).
The device passively scans for T-rays; naturally occurring radiation in the terahertz frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum.
The camera can image both metallic and non-metallic threat objects, including explosives, liquids, narcotics, weapons, plastics, and ceramics without revealing any body detail. In other words, the pictures will not show details of the naked body underneath.
The high-powered camera can detect hidden objects even when people are moving. The screening is harmless.
The T5000 camera could be deployed in railway stations, shopping centres and other public spaces.
The system can be linked to a computer so that it can automatically scan anyone passing and alert its human operator to anything suspicious.
In developing the T5000 technology, ThruVision collaborated with the European Space Agency and leveraged its research into dying stars.
